One week ago, on December 15, we closed on our new house. Shortly before noon that Wednesday, Mark and I became the owner(s) of the house we’ve been dreaming about, the house we’ve been designing, and occasionally agonizing about. We had visited the house every day at least once, sometimes just to walk up to the deck and sit (on weekends when the house was locked), other times to meet with the builder and/or various crew to discuss details, and then usually for lunch to see what was new and to take pictures.
Now we are here, at home.
We are tired, exhausted. It’s been a long couple months, and our first week in the new house was almost anti-climactic – no overwhelming joy (yet?), no dancing through the rooms. We just want to go to bed, and sleep for a year …
Our hope is that the upcoming Christmas break will give us some much-needed breathing space. Some time to just sit, and stare at the still-bare walls and windows until an idea for a picture or a curtain? drape? something comes to us. Time to look through our many many books and then slowly decide what will go where. Time to just sit …
For now, it’s enough that we’re home.
Good timing
Kind fate
Love it
Wishing you both – and Bootstrap and Taz, too – a blessed, peaceful, restful, joyful time at Home.
