One of the modifications we wanted to our house were some additional windows, and the replacement of planned windows with openable ones.
In the master bedroom the plan called for two single-width casement windows, spread apart so that a king-sized bed would fit in between them. While we understood the idea, neither of us like how dark the room felt. So we asked to have those taken out and to have a triple-width window centered in the wall. The outside third on either side is a casement window with the center section fixed. This not only lets much more light into the room, it nicely balances the facade when viewed from behind.
Also in the master suite we wanted the window over the garden tub to be openable and fitted with clear glass. The plan called for a fixed window of frosted glass.
Since these windows were changes they had to be ordered. They were delivered yesterday and installed today. The exterior of the house is now almost complete. The only remaining opening that we added that needs proper filling is the exit door on the back of the garage.
While we were visiting today, Lon, the builder, told us that the electrical and plumbing inspections had occurred and been passed. This clears the way for insulation and drywalling to begin. We took pictures of all the walls that contain plumbing or electrical wiring for future reference as the next time we are in the house it is likely the walls will be up. As Lon put it, “the rooms will seem smaller.”
It appeared that the roofer was nearly done applying the shingles. It has been rainy on and off for the past couple of days, which has slowed his progress.
