Is It Done Yet?

One refrain that Sibylle and I find ourselves repeating is, “is it done yet?”

The knowledge that our closing date is currently the end of December is hard to reconcile with our desire to move in now. And being new to the building of a house, we have no real understanding what will consume the next 90 days. Sure we know the broad strokes: inspections, insulation, sheetrock, cabinets, painting, trim, and flooring.

But will all of that really take October, November, and December to complete? And we haven’t forgotten that taking possession is different from actually being moved in and unpacked.

So, when we say, “is it done yet?” we are really acknowledging that there is a long way to go on this project, and that all we can do now is wait.

Patiently.

Is it done yet?
