With the outer shell of the house nearly complete, work has for the most part shifted inside. I say nearly completed as we are still waiting for the two new windows we requested to be delivered. Once they are in place the only remaining exterior items will be the shingles and some masonry on the front.
Inside progress has been fairly rapid to our uneducated eyes. The plumbing was installed by last Saturday. And this week the electrical outlets and switches have been completed. We asked for and got some additional recessed lights for the lower level, and we had three additional 110-volt outlets installed in the garage to enable wood working projects involving power tools. We also asked for and got an extra plug in the under stairs alcove, and in the little alcove in the master bathroom.
The telephone wiring, television cabling, and ethernet wiring has yet to happen. we were hoping to catch the builder and his non-electrical wiring guy there today but didn’t see them. We’ll have to send an email to inquire about what is typically included. My hope is that we can get some data ports scattered around the house without incurring a large additional cost.
On a non-wiring note, we learned that the interior designer mistakenly allowed us to select a carpet that was out of budget for the stairs and lower level. For that reason, and to select interior paint, we’ll have to travel back to Topeka one day next week. The next selections we’ll be making should be lighting fixtures. I think. Too many choices to keep straight.
